Troy Ryan was named the Lions General Manager and Head Coach on May 1, 2009 after spending 5 years behind the bench of the Pictou County Weeks Crushers. The highlight of his 5 years in Pictou County came in 2008 when Troy and the Crushers were able to win the Fred Page Cup (Eastern Canadian Championship) and earn a birth to the Royal Bank Cup (Canada's National Junior "A" Championship). The Crushers finished 3rd at the RBC losing to Camrose in the Semifinal game.

Troy has been very active with Hockey Canada's High Performance program. He has won Atlantic Championships with Hockey Nova Scotia teams at the U-15, U-16, & U-17 levels. He was the Head Coach of Team Nova Scotia during the last Canada Games event which took place in Whitehorse, NWT. Troy has also been selected to Coach Team Atlantic's U-17 program twice at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge. Winning Atlantic Canada's only ever medal at this event. Most recently Troy has worked (as an Assistant Coach) for the past four seasons with Team Canada East in the World Junior "A" Challenge.

He has most recently been named General Manager for Team Canada East 2010 for the World Junior "A" Challenge and Assistant coach for the 2011 Canada Games team and 

A Spryfield native, Troy is a former MJAHL player, having skated for four seasons with the Halifax Junior "A" Hockey Club.  After his junior career ended, Ryan played three seasons with the University of New Brunswick where he studied Sports Science and one season with the Saint Mary's Huskies while he finished off some electives. 

Troy came up through the Chebucto Minor Hockey system were he was influenced by some great coaches such as; Randy Morgan, Cliff Pelham, Steve Adams, and Brad MacLean to name a few. "I take great pride in where I came from and feel that my coaches have provided with me with a strong foundation to build on. Hopefully I will have the same impact on my players as my coaches have had on me."

Troy presently resides in Bedford with his girlfriend Stephanie.
