Matt Hill was named President/Governor of the Halifax Lions on February 4^th 2010.  Hill’s most recent involvement in hockey prior to joining the Lions is as a Director with the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League.  In Tampa, Hill was involved in the sales department and had a lead role in the sales of luxury suites, tickets, and sponsorships and brings this knowledge to the Lions.

Hill is a former player with the Halifax Jr. A hockey team and played two seasons for former coach Jim Bottomely.  Upon finishing his playing career in the MJAHL he went on to play with the Saint Mary’s Hockey Huskies for three years where he was a teammate of Lions Head Coach/GM Troy Ryan and Assistant coach Bob MacIsaac.

After completing his Commerce degree at SMU Hill went on to play two years of minor pro hockey in the now defunct WPHL and in the Dutch Elite League with the Amsterdam Borreti Tigers.  During his year in Amsterdam he was a part of winning the Dutch Elite League National Championship.

Upon retiring from Minor Pro hockey, Hill was an owner/operator of Maritime Athletic Group, a hockey company that specialized in skill development for HRM minor hockey players.

After spending the past four years in Tampa, Hill returns to Halifax where he helps run Dadavan Systems, a family business that specializes in educational software.

Hill currently lives in Halifax with his wife Tanya.
